Building affordable housing and creating jobs

As part of the Community Housing Stock Leverage Program, Stage 1 of Green Point Road in Bridgewater is now well underway, with 16 houses to be delivered – 10 under the Stock Leverage Program (all targeted to priority applicants), and six under the Better Housing Futures Program (mix of social, affordable and new homes for sale).

With 172 new properties and 31 substantially upgraded properties expected to be available under the program by 2019, and completion of these houses in Bridgewater anticipated by December 2018, the program will see 230 jobs created in the construction sector, with a direct injection into the Tasmanian economy of $34 million and an overall benefit of more than $90 million.

As part of the Hodgman Liberal Government’s Plan to Build Your Future, a re-elected Hodgman Liberal Government will increase the number of apprentices and trainees in the private sector by 40 per cent by 2025.
