CHPs for QLD Ltd signs MoU with Q Shelter Incorporated

CHPs for QLD Limited (CHPs for QLD) and Queensland Shelter Incorporated (Q Shelter) announced a co-signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signalling a milestone development in this key industry relationship.

Q Shelter’s Chair, Rachel Watson, said the MoU was an opportunity for both organisations to align their efforts in delivering better outcomes for the community housing industry and their Members.

“Q Shelter and CHPs for QLD want to see a stronger community housing sector in Queensland. “We are assured through consultation with all our respective members that the signing of this MoU will ensure collaboration is enhanced to deliver better outcomes to the organisations we support and ultimately the people whom we serve.”

“This MoU will complement Q Shelter’s state-funded industry capacity building programs, development of policy, and delivery of training to community housing and homelessness services.”

Anne-Maree Keane, Chair CHPs for QLD said: “As the independent industry body representing Community Housing Providers (CHPs) state-wide, CHPs for QLD is member-based and non-profit. Our charter is to promote the growth, interests, expertise and value-add of CHPs in their role as providers of social and affordable housing and high-quality tenancy, property and support services.”

“In the spirit of cooperation, this MoU further enables our remit. It also builds on CHPs for QLD’s recent agreement to become CHIA QLD or the Queensland branch of CHIA (Community Housing Industry Association) which has already seen significant additional benefits delivered to our members,” Ms Keane also said.

Excited to be at the forefront of change, Q Shelter and CHPs for QLD look forward to advancing shared objectives, including:

  • Supporting the growth and development of the community housing sector;
  • Influencing and shaping social and affordable housing policy and programs through research, policy, consultation and advocacy;
  • Building industry profile and reputation as an important contributor to State and National housing markets; and
  • Creating a shared approach on homelessness.
