An opportunity to create 250 new homes minutes from the heart of Fremantle has been announced by the State Government.
The government called for expressions of interest from a private partner to develop 1.4 hectares of land at 19-25 Burt Street in the east end of the portside suburb.
WA Housing Minister Peter Tinley said the project would create affordable housing options and new jobs.
“The proposed Burt Street partnership offers a well-located site near the heart of Fremantle that is close to jobs, public transport and established amenities,” he said.
The Burt Street site is zoned R160 to meet growing demand from families, workers and downsizers.
Located within the buzzing city of Fremantle, the project offers plenty of nearby amenities, including John Curtin College of the Arts, Fremantle Arts Centre and the suburb’s main cafe strip.
The development will aim to reflect the government’s vision of delivering more affordable and social housing options for WA, with the project creating a mix of social housing and affordable homeownership and rental opportunities.
