Home and Away: Creating inclusion everywhere – 3rd Australian Universal Design Conference

Housing and home design is a major theme of the upcoming Australian Universal Design Conference which will take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre 4-5 September 2018. AHI Members can still access the early bird rate of $600 +GST by using the code EB600.

A representative of the Australian Building Codes Board will outline the next steps in the push for mandating accessible features in all new housing. There are presentations from other housing experts in this strand as well.

Keynote speaker Nicki Hutley who heads Deloitte’s urban advisory practice will address issues including affordable housing, urban renewal and social policies. Amy Child from global design and engineering firm Arup will look at what the future of transportation means for accessibility and inclusion, while Chris Veitch from Access New Business (UK) will discuss how everyone can benefit from an inclusive approach when it comes to accessible tourism.

Architect Allen Kong will show how international case studies meet the concept of universal design and inclusion within the public realm and new buildings and there will be a home modifications panel and mini-workshop.
