Housing Choices opens new affordable properties in Devonport amid ongoing concern about supply

Affordable housing provider Housing Choices Australia is in the midst of a North-West expansion.

The organisation recently added seven new units in Devonport to the 1100 properties it manages in the region through the government’s Better Housing Futures program.

State manager Kim Bomford said Housing Choices had worked to improve stability and choice for affordable housing tenants since it arrived in the North-West in 2014.

“We want to establish ourselves here long-term as a provider of choice that residents love and that contributes back to the community,” she said.

Mrs Bomford said there was great demand for affordable housing in the North-West as locals made up more than a third of the waiting list.

“We also are looking for opportunities to work in the local area with local builders … so we recognise there’s also an economic benefit in terms of the community if we can deliver additional supply,” she said.

Christine Shaw is one of the tenants at new Devonport units and said she was “content and happy” with Housing Choices.
