Shocking CCTV has revealed the frightening extent to which tenants at Australia’s most dangerous housing commission blocks are running riot.
In the dramatic footage, obtained by Channel Nine’s A Current Affair, a shirtless man can be seen stabbing an elevator wall with a large butcher’s knife at the Surry Hills Northcotte housing block.
In another clip, a tenant attempts to break CCTV devices with a metal bar before using a marker to black out the lens and in another, a man uses spray paint to blacken the camera.
Police are constantly walking in and out escorting out handcuffed tenants out of the building.
The disturbing acts were caught on CCTV recently upgraded in a Housing NSW crackdown on out-of-control behaviour compromising the safety of tenants.
NSW Minister for Social Housing Pru Goward revealed to ACA a litany of security measures aimed at monitoring unruly public housing tenants around the clock.
