HUTT St Centre’s operating model could be changed as the homeless services provider and SA Housing Authority look at teaming up.
The centre is reviewing its services in the wake of the Hutt St Working Party finishing.
This was formed to address mounting concerns over anti-social behaviour in the area.
A report by the Adelaide City Council on the outcomes of the working party, which met three times, said the SA Housing Authority had assumed responsibility for homelessness in the inner city.
It was now in “active conversation with the Hutt St Centre about its future service delivery model”.
Members of the working party told The Advertiser this would involve discussing whether the centre remained largely a “day centre” providing meals, a warm shower and laundry that closes in the afternoon.
Changes which could be examined include some form of accommodation and more specific services for people with mental health issues.
