Goulburn MP Pru Goward joined representatives of Upper Lachlan Shire Council, the Crookwell Neighbourhood Centre and the Department of Family and Community Services for Monday’s official opening of the outdoor gym at Clifton Park, Crookwell.
Also on hand were a personal trainer and residents to put the new equipment through its paces. The new gym, all free of charge, includes a chest press and lat pull down, massage bars and cycle pusher, leg press and swing board, sky runner and runner (elliptical), and two stations for community members with disability or aged needs.
The project was funded with $50,000 from the State Government’s 2016 Social Housing and Community Improvement Fund, sought by the Crookwell Neighbourhood Centre.
“This is all about turning social housing areas into strong, vibrant communities that our residents are proud to call home,” Ms Goward said.
ULSC acting general manager Andrew Croke said the council was pleased to contribute to the project by levelling the site and donating project management staff.
