Telopea turns into high density suburb of Sydney’s west

TELOPEA is set to transform with new homes and a town centre.

The State Government rezoning proposal sets out the guidelines over the next 20 years for the 64 hectare site.

The stage one proposal includes plans for improved open spaces, a new community centre and a potential new town centre alongside the light-rail stop.

It will include up to 4900 social and private homes as well as jobs and services in the neighbourhood.

Under Communities Plus, the NSW Government’s social housing building program, the work will take place over the next two decades.

At the announcement in Telopea, Planning and Housing Minister Anthony Roberts said it was a great opportunity to unlock additional housing supply and upgrade social housing.

Telopea is already connected to the Carlingford train line and when the light rail is built, will take commuters under 15 minutes to get to the Parramatta CBD.
